In the Media Over the Years

Iconic Española package store and bar marks 60 years of serving saints — and otherwise
ESPAÑOLA — Motorists honked and waved as they drove by Kenny Salazar, who stood below Saints and Sinners’ iconic sign along Riverside Drive.
They might have been honking in salute to the sign, featuring an angel and a devil; the lighted, blinking advertisement is perhaps better known than Salazar’s package liquor store and bar.
Española Bar Cheers to 60 Years
Española, NM – Saints and Sinners, the iconic liquor store/bar that has been a cherished establishment in Northern New Mexico since 1963, is excited to announce the launch of its official website, saintsandsinnersnm.com. This marks the first time in its 60-year history that the business will have an online presence, bringing the spirit of Saints and Sinners to a global audience.

DENNIS SALAZAR, 1935-2020 Owner of Saints and Sinners in Española dies of COVID-19
Legendary Northern New Mexico businessman Dennis Salazar, best known as the founder of Española’s Saints and Sinners package liquor store — and onetime bar — died Thursday at 85.
He’d been hospitalized with complications from COVID-19 for about a week and a half before his death, said his son, Ken Salazar.
Family and friends say he also started the area’s first cable television company, was instrumental in helping establish Northern New Mexico College — where a building is named after him — and helped shape the state constitution as a member of the 1969 Constitutional Convention.
